Edge Stitch Foot

This is the foot I used for the top stitching on the quarter circle for the "Fan Quilt".  I almost fell of my chair when I first used it.  I could not believe how consistent and perfect it look.  Next I used it across the raw edge of the fan blades.  I adjust my blanket stitch slightly smaller than I normally used, but WHAM! Scored again!! This made following along the edge so easy with such pleasing results.  I'm pretty sure this is called a Edge Stitch foot, check with your machine dealer or local Sew and Vac to see if they carry one for your machine.  Its well worth having this one in your bag.

The Beginninng Quilting Class for July and August

I love this quilt!  It was fun to make and of course, I love the fabrics.  I know it looks difficult, but when you break it down, its sooo easy.  That's why I included it in my Beginner's class.  Tools will be an important factor in making this quilt.  Be sure to pick up a 15 degree fan ruler.  It may be called something other than a "Fan Ruler" like triangle,   but you need one that is long enough to do a layer cake.  The edging foot was sooooo helpful, I incourage you to get one.  Once you know how to use it....it will be one you use alot.

Abby Bag

It's coming soon,  Tuesday, June 11, 5:30pm to 8:30pm.  Theresa and I are gearing up with new fabrics and old favorites.  We will be selling kits already precut!  Can you image how much time you save not having to cut every piece out.  We are also making inner bags for sale also.  It saves you from buying a big bag of crushed walnut litter and packing it into muslin ball.  I will do a quick demostration on how we do ours, so if you want to make more, you will have some idea how to make it yourself.   We are going thru our stashes and the store to look for the best combos to make some wonderful Abby Bags.  If you havent make one yet, come and join us!!

My sewing room

My sewing room is my little gettaway.  Its been a long time coming, and a work in progress.  My Bernina has been a pleasure to sew on.  I own a few of these little gems, and they have been such a joy to work on.
This little room is filled to the rafters.  I have given thoughts to streamline my fabrics, kinda out with the old.  Teaching at the shop gives way to all the yummy new fabrics and I find a bag in my hand as I leave the store.  Good intentions aside,  I pull fabric out of my closet, and at that momemt, I remember what I wanted it for.  (Cant figure out why that's the only time.)
This is my cutting table and ironing station.  Lots of storage underneath both.  Sorry, no pictures underneath, needs some serious cleaning.  I have 2 large tubs of FQs which I plan to use.

I know, I know....You are thinking, "How can she sew with all that clutter?"  All I can say is, if its high profile, chances are, I will use it.  Out of sight, out of mind.
My Design Wall, also know as my bullitan board.  I do clean it off to arrange blocks, but its mostly used as a reminder of tasks unfinished.
There you have it, my little studio.   I have a DVD player, the televison is not hooked up to cable.  I use it only for my favorite movies.  Its fabulous for marathon sewing, which I do about every two months.  Its alway kinda of interesting to see where quilters create.  This is my little mess, but I love it!  Cheers!

Quilting Retreat

Yes, its that time of year to pack up the sewing machine (Bernie), gather up my friends and head south towards Sierra Vista.  I love these getaways, they refresh and enlighten me to go forth and finish up old projects and, of course, I'm inspired to start new ones.  Along the way, I have the pleasure of being part of group of  wonderful people who make me laugh, who share their talents and stories, They are such a joy to be around.  Our first stop will be a couple of Tucson Quilt Shops and lunch. We should be arriving in the late afternoon to Ritterranch.  I have a little surprize instore for my friends, I pick up these cute pincushion jars for each of my friends and plan to wake up early one morning and place one beside each of their sewing machines. :) Oh, did mention, I got one for me too!

April's Students Chevron Quilts!!

This groups finishes up the Chevron Quilt that I taught at ETC this month.  This has been a very popular quilt and I think everyone has had such good results.  I am so proud of these women, its such a gift to me to see the sparkle in their eyes.  I just recieved a text from one student who finished up the binding and then washed her quilt.  She was beside herself with the outcome!

Beginng Quilting new May/June Quilts

We have a bit of a change for the May/June Beginning Quilting Class.  I started making up the gray quilt as the sample quilt and realize that it could be done easier for a student that is brand new to quilting.  So......I'm offering two ways to put this quilt together.  The pink quilt is for the Beginnner Beginner and the gray one is Confident Beginner.  The Confident Beginner has taken sewing and quilting classes and want to hone in on skills.  The Beginner Beginner is brand new and need a more simplistic block construction.
